More than 12,000 delegates assembled in Birmingham, England July 27th - 31st In spite of terrorists threats and even a tornado the celebration of 100 years of worldwide Baptist fellowship was beyond our greatest expectations. For five days God’s kingdom of unity, love and fellowship was experienced in downtown Birmingham. Between conferences you found yourself engaged in the most joyful conversations with brothers and sisters in Christ from every corner of the globe. The fellowship with people from totally different linguistic and cultural backgrounds was so spontaneous and warm it was truly a foretaste of heaven itself. It was surprising how many mutual friends we shared together-- foremost being our personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
The evening worship services featured testimonies, drama and special music from every continent. The unifying theme was to proclaim “Jesus Christ, Living Water”. At the conclusion, all the different international choirs assembled on stage, each in their own colorful native dress, and began singing Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus. Suddenly you realized our worship of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords was part of a much larger heavenly choir “which no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people, and language” rising in praise and thanksgiving to our Lord Jesus Christ.
